  Job Description

qedi are currently recruiting for a Operations Manager (contract) to join our growing Canada operation. This will be a key role in developing qedi's profile and business within the region.

Primary Function:

  • To provide technical/operational direction/support to the Americas General Manager (Canada Office) in developing qedi's business in the region
  • To work with and support the General Manager in business development pursuits as required, providing technical guidance and knowledge
  • To work with qedi Head Office (HO) Operations Function (via Hub and Spoke) in the development and implementation regional business operations strategy and policies for safe and efficient operational delivery (in line with corporate standards)
  • To ensure Client / Project operations requirements are delivered to a high standard at all times, ensuring Client satisfaction is achieved and maintained

Secondary Function:

  • Work with the HO operations function and other regional offices in development of operations strategic policies, processes and procedures ensuring a consistent approach to operational delivery (Operational excellence) is implemented globally
  • Provide technical input into the development of proposals and estimates as required in line with BD process

  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to Health, Safety and the Environment by ensuring personal safety and as far as is reasonably practical that of others by following qedi's, Safety & Environment Policy and applying qedi's HSE Management Systems
  • Demonstrate and promote the principles of Beyond Zero at all times
  • Lead safety principles within the business portraying excellent safety leadership qualities

Responsibilities:

  • To work within the parameters of the qedi Management System and ISO 9001:2008
  • Develop and implement operational business management processes, delivery plans and procedures to ensure quality and consistent project delivery across the region
  • Plan, direct and control day to day operational delivery of the business and as required that of projects
  • Represent company to clients, assess client needs and engage with clients to ensure efficient delivery of agreed scope of work
  • Ensure all operations activities are delivered safely ensuring the highest regard is paid to HSSE and Quality at all times
  • As required investigate and report on HSSE related incidents and accidents
  • Assist in developing business plans, market services and create bidding opportunities
  • Provide technical support to GM during client meetings ensuring the extent of qedi services is explained and understood by clients
  • Provide input into the tendering process, formulate and present bids
  • Maintain awareness of market requirements/expectations to identify potential opportunities
  • Ensure appropriate training is provided to personnel to support delivery of work scope efficiently and safely at all times
  • Provide input into the BMS Audit process
  • Input into the continuous improvement of the business and its processes and procedures

HSE Responsibilities:

Required Experience:

  • Extensive Commissioning experience with demonstrable knowledge in an operational delivery role within the Oil & Gas industry (or associated industry)
  • Sound knowledge of Systems Completions across the lifecycle of a project
  • Due to the role being located within the Americas it is preferred that the candidate also has experience in the management and execution of commissioning of mining and refinery facilities

Skills/Competencies Required:

  • Ability to identify and implement business strategy and make innovative operational improvements
  • Ability to assess scope requirements and plan execution
  • Ability to represent company to client and assess client needs
  • Ability to initiate, develop, maintain and manage client relationships (CRM)
  • Excellent technical knowledge and experience of Oil & Gas projects (engineering, construction, completions commissioning and start-up)
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation and industry practice
  • Excellent knowledge of industry HSEQ process and practices
  • Commercial awareness
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • IT literate

  • Degree qualified (preferred) ideally in an engineering discipline
